The Soul

Who We Are

Since its inception in 2021, GOLDEN VISION SOCIETY, With MENTAL HEALTH prevention at the core, aims to offer services to encourage a STIGMA-FREE MENTAL HEALTH Nepal.

GOLDEN VISION SOCIETY has emphasized serving the widespread Nepali people and aims to impact as many lives as possible. In particular, GVS focuses on addressing the mental health needs of the underclass of society who are unable to access basic resources in order to sustain healthy-happy lifestyles.

GVS aims at inclusion of all people in the community - including women, children, and senior citizens, to benefit from its projects. It has been providing supporting resources to community groups and students in schools through informative sessions and materials.

Research reveals that mental illness is directly linked to poverty as well as gender-related issues such as child marriage, low social status, lack of education, and physical abuse. Some 85% of the global poor live in rural communities and the majority of them are women. But rural women are the most under-researched segment of the global population, said Saionara König-Reis, UN Representative and head of the New York office of Dianova International. Their needs require further study since rural women do not comprise a homogenous group, but vary from community to community. Their living experiences are so multiple and the nuances are so important.

Globally, one-third of all women are victims of abuse. In rural China, abuse is a fundamental issue in women’s suicide. Women are twice as likely to be depressed as men, and rape victims are at particular risk. Young rape victims can experience severe mental problems, and need to be supported by professional services at the community level.

GVS has ventured into mutually beneficial relationships with the Government to help create a visible change in the community. Additionally, a lot of corporations have lent their helping hand to help GVS achieve the vision that the foundation has aimed at since its initiation.
